The Manager of Operations is an integral member of the Center for Teaching & Scholarly Excellence (CTSE) and often the first point of contact for instructors interested in educational development for teaching, academic technology, and scholarship. Reporting to and working closely with the CTSE Director, the Manager of Operations is responsible for the planning, marketing, and implementation of programs and events to advance the mission and goals of the center. This position uses a data-drive approach to improve service and requires good judgment, problem-solving and confidentiality. A detailed-oriented individual with project management and organizational skills, a positive attitude and the ability to multi-task effectively in this fast-paced environment will thrive in this position.

Programming & Communications

Implements project management protocol for all programs and events ranging from workshops to Symposia. Facilitates on-campus programs and events for CTSE and some Provost initiated events. Creates, monitors and tracks registration, attendance, and assessment for all events. Drafts correspondence, agendas, programs, marketing materials, and meeting notes, as needed. Works closely with facilities and food vendors. Assists with the creation and development of the CTSE annual report and manages center communications, including the website and social media sites. Assesses client needs, triages requests, forwards questions, and ensures communication with and among CTSE Team members. Performs other duties as needed.

Administrative & Financial

Maintains office organization, monitors and handles purchasing of supplies, books, membership renewals, conference registrations, and travel arrangements as approved by the Director. Maintains and updates calendars for the CTSE and sets up meetings such as advisory board meetings, faculty and professional learning community retreats and meetings, consultations, midterm feedback sessions and other CTSE and Provost’s Office activities, as needed. Tracks and reports on expenditures. Maintains and monitors CTSE lending library and website. Resolves problems with minimal supervision. Assists with compliance with internal HR procedures and hires, trains and supervises student workers.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience as a program manager
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of related experience required
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and desired computer skills in Qualtrics, Canva, and Web Design
  • Familiarity with social media marketing applications (LinkedIn, Twitter)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Committed to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness
  • Demonstrated experience working in a high volume, deadline-oriented customer focused environment
  • Proven ability to prioritize projects, work independently, and as part of a team
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Reliability, integrity, and adaptability
  • Enjoys handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in higher education desired
  • Experience with WordPress is a plus
  • Experience with research methods is a plus
  • Experience with the Canvas Learning Management System is a plus
