This position will be based out of our Headquarters location located in Winchester, KY* but statewide travel to our production facilities and services centers will be required.*

Key Roles
This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects, activities, and programs related to corporate safety, security, and facilities (HQ). This includes providing effective leadership and maintaining accountability for all assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities
All Areas
- Manages all safety, security, and facilities (HQ) activities throughout the organization; ensures optimum use of equipment, facilities, funds, and personnel.
- Maintains liaison with outside organizations and subject experts in the areas of safety, security, and facilities management.
- Remains current in related areas by reviewing technical publications and participating in professional organizations to update knowledge in safety, security, and facilities management.
- Participates in various state and national meetings, conferences, and seminars in the areas of safety and security.
- Provides leadership and maintains accountability for all assigned areas including managing and administering policies, providing clear direction and evaluating performance of the work group, and utilizing resources to meet the needs of the organization (using skills of work group as well as setting goals, administering budgets, and monitoring costs).
Safety
- Manages and implements strategic initiatives designed to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
- Develops incident prevention and loss control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies.
- Develops programs to ensure management takes actions needed to raise employee awareness of risk and to reduce, avoid, and protect employees from hazards in the workplace, including occupational illness or disease.
- Investigates major incidents or problem areas; makes recommendations for future improvements.
- Conducts research to identify hazards and evaluate loss producing potential of given system, operation, or process.
- Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and injuries, and prepares reports for information of leadership and general employees.
- Provides support to the CEO and the Central Safety Committee in all safety related areas; prepares monthly reports for the Committee and the Board of Directors.
- Serves as program manager for the Safety Process Improvement Teams; provides guidance and support to team leads and executive sponsors.
- Represents EKPC on the KEC Safety Subcommittee and KY Lineman Rodeo Committee.
- Manages participation in OSHA inspections, provides requested documents, and identifies safety measures to mitigate citations and/or fines.
- Ensures compliance of safety standards with various government agencies and other organizations (i.e., OSHA, PSC, DOT, NEC, NESC, ANSI, etc.).
- Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, and implements or recommends corrective actions.
- Informs management and employees of safety performance as related to corporate goals.
- Monitors and provides feedback on safety awareness, incident prevention, and safety training program.
- Monitors and assists HR department in worker's compensation administration by providing documentation and direction in determining whether incidents are work related and/or recordable in accordance with OSHA criteria.
Security
- Ensures development, implementation, and administration of corporate security.
- Designs, implements, and directs policies and strategies of corporate security, including internal investigations, workplace violence, and external security contract management.
- Maintains close oversight of all security requirements providing preplanning intelligence information to appropriate personnel.
- Coordinates ongoing review of existing security programs and initiates the development of new programs, as needed, at all facilities.
- Provides consulting support and work direction to external security contract; makes recommendations for improvements or enhancements to security systems.
- Functions as a project leader on multidisciplinary teams related to security areas by reviewing issues, implementing changes, and monitoring solutions; maintains close communication with management on projects and responds to requests for support.
Facilities (HQ)
- Oversees the maintenance and access of HQ buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities.
- Oversees the planning and coordination of physical improvements to HQ facilities and grounds.
- Assists in selecting and approving contractors for facility renovations and projects.
Key Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in related area. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Loss Control Professional (CLCP), or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience:
- Ten (10) years of related experience. Must have at least five (5) years of supervisory experience in a related area.
Skills and Abilities:
- Must attend ongoing Learning for Leaders training and complete Supervisory Training Program within two (2) years.
- Must acquire OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour certification within one year.
- Must be certified to instruct CPR and First Aid classes.
- Thorough knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements (OSHA, PSC, DOT, NEC, NESC, ANSI, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of worker's compensation laws and regulations.
- Strong listening, oral, and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of the organization.

Working Conditions
- This position is exposed to a combination of office and field/plant environments. Normal conditions apply to the office environment. The field/plant environments may include noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, slippery or unstable surfaces, and uneven terrain.
- Requires occasional lifting over 100 pounds.
- Must maintain valid driver’s license.
- Requires regular travel/visits to plant and field locations.
- Ability and willingness to carry a cell phone, be on call, and/or respond to calls 24/7.
- Ability and willingness to work beyond normal office hours.
- Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.
