Job Description

This position is a leader and direct manager in the Systems Sales Group. The position is responsible for leading and coaching Solution Account Executives as they pursue new and existing clients for industrial automation solutions. The Manager of Systems Sales also assists the Director of Sales in executing strategic business goals and taking on corporate responsibilities, as well as working directly with the Solutions Delivery Group and other Bastian functional areas. The position is responsible for increasing sales and profitability of large integrated solutions. The position will also work closely with Business Development and Strategic Accounts to qualify and distribute new opportunities.


Job Functions

  • Coach and mentor a team of Solution Account Executives with a goal of winning business, increasing profitability, and driving high customer satisfaction.
  • Review and provide feedback on solution design, job cost and customer proposals.
  • Lead and negotiate customer commercial agreements.
  • Continue to enhance and refine the tools / methodologies used by the Sales team.
  • Work with the Director of Sales on strategic initiatives and process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Understand the competition and shifts in the industry that effect sales.
  • Proven technical problem-solving capabilities through expanded application experience.
  • Exhibits a clear understanding of the operation of material handling systems including controls and warehouse execution software.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and demonstrate the ability to analyze application challenges and to actively develop solutions.
  • Actively participates in the development and training of our newer team members with a willingness to mentor and coach.
  • Openly shares knowledge and provides guidance for newer team members.
  • Helps identify needs of our team and proactively works to address.
  • Participate in the in hiring process of new employees.
  • Review and approve travel, expense reports, and time off requests.
  • All job duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires up to 25% overnight travel with a typical duration of 2 nights

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

  • Coach Sales team on all aspects of winning large system sales and developing great client relationships.
  • Excellent problem solving and creativity through solution design to create winning proposals.
  • Great experience determining winning solutions based on results of data analysis, and coaching Sales team on communicating with clients.
  • Builds confidence with our largest clients when making formal presentations.
  • MBA or MS required or equivalent experience, with an undergraduate degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in selling large integrated material handling solutions strongly preferred.
  • Previous consultative selling experience preferred.
  • Experience with material handling systems integration or Supply Chain Execution software preferred.
