Overview:
Responsible for direct supervision of Patient Business Associates in the Patient Processing and Emergency Departments. Establishes effective managerial control of departmental activities through the delegation of duties and coordination of staff. Assumes responsibility for the operation of the department in the absence of the Director of Patient Processing and Financial Review.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops collaborative relationships with other professional disciplines and
    departments.
  • Promotes hospital safety rules and regulations.
  • Conducts monthly meetings to inform/update staff of current departmental and
    hospital activities.
  • Attends managerial meetings and other assigned meetings.
  • Identifies and analyzes actual or potential problems affecting the quality of services
    offered to our patients/customers.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and assesses corrective action plans. Communicates
    findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge of Patient Processing policy and procedures within
    the Third Party Payers, Industry wide and Interfaith Medical Center.
  • Responsible for quality control of demographic information input, and recorded by staff.
  • Demonstrates knowledge (didactic and practical) in all functioning aspects of the
    operations in Patient Processing Department.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all admission information.
  • Ensures that the bed board is current at all times. Monitor the preparation of Daily
    Census Report.
  • Participates in Quality Assessment for the department.
  • Assumes duties of the Patient Business Associate as determined by the Director of
    Patient Processing.
  • Assists in the development of measures to encourage cost containment and effective
    utilization of personnel, supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in the monitoring and evaluation of Budgets and Expense Reports.
  • Prepares payroll entries for department staff in Time & Attendance System..
  • Submits monthly schedule that reflect appropriate distribution of staff and planned
    utilization to defray the use of overtime.
  • Plans schedules for staff to attend in-service training, educational program updates,
    mandatory classes.
  • Participates in professional organizations to enhance knowledge and disseminate
    current information and regulations to the facility.
  • Conducts annual appraisals on employees on probation, for promotions, transfers, and
    resignations in the time frame established by policy.
  • Promotes professional environment in which positive work relationships are fostered
    and maintained.
  • Monitors and evaluates the competency of staff that is under his/her direct
    supervision on an ongoing basis.
  • Initiates disciplinary process when employee action warrants.
  • Performs other related duties a required.
Qualifications:
Education :
  • Requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma, or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited college/university.

Experience:

  • Requires supervisory experience in Patient Processing for a minimum of two (2) years of job-related experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency with Medical Terminology required.
  • Proficiency with Office PC's, Desktops, and Laptop software in addition to familiarity with Microsoft Office softwares to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements :
  • Position may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, talking, sitting, hearing, and bending throughout the work day.
  • May include some repetitive motions.
