Manager, QA – Job Description

Medical Solutions creates software to support every aspect of a healthcare clinician’s career and the hospitals that staff them to reduce friction, increase operational efficiency, and improve healthcare outcomes.

Product & Innovation is a team of product managers, delivery managers, designers, architects, developers, and QA engineers that create and transform ideas into disruptive products.

We are looking for a Manager, Quality Assurance (QA) to join our team as we create products and services that thousands of people use. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring high quality, performant products and features are delivered to our customers. In this position, you will lead a team of QA Engineers overseeing the test efforts for our suite of external facing products. You will assist in building our QA team as it continues to grow and will champion our test automation efforts. This position requires dedicated leadership and strong interpersonal skills to provide excellent results. The successful candidate will manage multiple priorities with ambitious deadlines, be passionate about building high quality customer applications and be innovative in their ideas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be an example in exhibiting Medical Solutions’ core values every day
  • Lead a team of QA Engineers to
    • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
    • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
    • Design, develop, and execute automation test scripts
    • Identify, record, document, and track bugs
    • Perform thorough regression testing
  • Implement software testing methodologies to improve the overall product development lifecycle
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet end user needs
  • Oversee the development and execution automation scripts
  • Partner with Product Owners, Developer Managers, Support Managers, and Developers to proactively address issues and improve the efficiency of the development process
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Stay up to date with new testing tools and test strategies
  • Be an enthusiastic leader with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and growth opportunities for the QA team
  • Foster a culture that promotes goal setting, continuous improvement, flexibility, and problem-solving

Job Qualifications:

  • 2+ years management experience leading a software QA Team
  • 5+ years experience in a software quality assurance role
  • Expert knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box strategies
  • Experience working with test automation tools, Selenium or similar.
  • Experience working with customer facing software applications
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent, proven analytical skills
  • Solid knowledge of SQL query and API scripting
  • Azure DevOps Test Management skills

Preferences:

  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
