Summary
The primary role of the Managing Director, Consumer Pillar, within the Save the Children US Corporate Partnerships team is to lead a sub-team within the Consumer Pillar to develop deeper, broader, more strategic, business and philanthropic relationships with both existing partners (eg. TJMaxx, Ulta, Dollar General, Disney, Discovery, Harper Collins etc.) and prospects, in partnership with existing teams.
You will collaborate with existing teams to grow and/or create at least two, $10million+ annual partnerships for SCUS by end 2024, as well as a pipeline of prospective partnerships that deliver strong cash and contribute to reputation growth and other cross-agency objectives including brand awareness, consumer preference, lead generation and overall agency visibility. Partnering across the corporate team and other SCUS functions, you will leverage your corporate networks to enhance the strong capabilities already present within the corporate team to support growing these relationships in key markets around the world, and presenting Save the Children as a leader in the sector through external panels and publications.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Lead strategic planning and high-level partner engagement for a sub-group within the Consumer team (60%)
- Drive current/future consumer-facing engagements and new grant programs with CPG/retail/media/publishing companies to generate at least $20M in cash annually for SCUS by end 2024 through new business prospecting, opportunity sizing, initial outreach/door opening, pitch material development, VP and above/C-suite level partner relationship cultivation, contract negotiation, high level problem-solving, and ongoing senior partner engagement, supporting the relevant existing team(s) as needed to ensure world class delivery, reporting and promotion of our joint success, internally and externally.
- Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise a staff of up to 5 direct reports, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging – supporting Save the Children values
- Participate as a member of the Corporate Leadership Team (CLT) and partner with the Global Corporate Partnerships Group to drive global engagements.
- Goal setting, budgeting and overarching strategy development across Corporate and where relevant, with Marketing & Communications colleagues, to ensure the right partner strategies and engagements are defined and executed with excellence, in line with partner expectations.
Lead consumer sub-team to deliver beyond cash across SCUS and STC globally (25%)
- Drive Agency goals for fundraising beyond cash, including brand awareness and favorability and lead generation for Movement of Millions, Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving.
- Perform other duties as may be required.
External Visibility (15%)
- Identify and secure opportunities to build Save the Children’s visibility with the corporate sector, securing speaking engagements, social media posts, and publications that recognize Save the Children’s leadership position well ahead of peer organizations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 10 years of relevant experience
- Proven experience working with senior corporate executives (VP or above) within Consumer Products, Retail, Media or Publishing companies
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate successfully with individuals and teams at all levels
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- Demonstrated successful managerial and leadership skills in corporate fundraising and cause-related marketing and similar fields in order to support the technical advice, guidance and direction related to large consumer-facing programs
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% to foster team-building and partner relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Sales-oriented business environment (agency, consulting firm, etc.) experience
- Experience working for or with non-profits
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
- Geo 1- NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Up to $155,000/ year
- Geo 2-Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Up to $141,000/ year
- Geo 3-Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Up to $127,000/year
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
