Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm Mon - Fri

JOB SUMMARY

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify and understand blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or

sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of

operations, and setup requirements.

• Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirement.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines,

shapers, or grinders.

• Set up, adjust and operate of the machine tools and many specialized or advanced

variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.

• Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on material or

workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.

• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and

materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, shapers, etc.

• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant

flow, and depth and angle of cut.

• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance

machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

• Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
• Verifies dimensions and alignment of materials.
• Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to

be manufactured.

• Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or

assembly problems.

• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust,

stains, and foreign matter.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Skills)

• Read blueprints/shop drawings.
• At minimum, properly operate the following equipment: Manual Engine Lathe, Manual Milling

machine, Manual drill press, arbor press, bearing press, overhead Jib Crane and in time, pass

and maintain OSHA Forklift certification, continue self-improvement, and must handle self as an

NPC employee in a professional manner.

• It is critical that the employee display the following attributes; dependability, orderliness,

attendance, quality of work, productivity, initiative, cooperation, and overall knowledge

development are all keys to performing this job successfully.
