The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all quality and technical aspects of product manufacturing and process control within the production facility. The position requires prior experience in well-established production environments working with multidiscipline (Mech., HW, SW, Optics, Etc.) products and a strong understanding of standard processes and controls.

Objectives:

  • Meet product efficiency targets.
  • Drive high manufacturing quality as a minimum expectation of the team. Lead regular quality circle meetings with their respective manufacturing area.
  • Ensure efficient and accurate NPI transfers into production
  • Perform DFM analysis on all mechanical assemblies
  • Train mechanical assemblers for all processes and any product that they build
  • Develop a manufacturing plan for assigned products and complete all assigned assembly line, instructions, and tooling development to plan commit dates
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Prepare summaries of product build cycles, yields, defects, and issues
  • Develop and or evaluate manufacturing processes for design and improvement by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Complete the Change orders and implement them the system

Competencies:

  • Strong working knowledge of optics/ mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Must have some mechanical design experience (design and development of custom assembly tooling would meet this requirement)
  • Superior, creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Be able to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong desire to train and share knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of Solid works, Auto CAD, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in optical/mechanical assembly and mechanical assembly line design
  • BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong background in lean manufacturing techniques
