Goal(s): The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for manufacturing/warehouse
processes and their improvement, resolution of complex manufacturing/warehouse process
issues, and develops plant and equipment layout, capacity plans, workflow and accident
prevention measures to maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities.

Position Reports To: Plant Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capacity Planning – Develop and maintain models and metrics to measure equipment
    and factory capacity and output, and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks.
    Apply industrial engineering concepts to line management, capacity analysis, scheduling
    and production planning.
  • Productivity Improvements – Work with cross-discipline team to achieve output
    improvements for bottleneck process areas inclusive of spending extensive time on the
    manufacturing floor for hands on observations.
  • Layout/Workstation – Assist in planning production facilities and equipment layouts to
    meet existing and new equipment installations. Designing, procuring and installing jigs,
    fixtures, work stations and other support equipment to ensure safe and efficient work
    flow.
  • Automation and systems – Design, maintain and implement databases and systems to
    support performance and cost metrics, manufacturing execution and yield
    improvements/reduction of errors.
  • Influences key associates to promote participation and cooperation in process
    development/improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures conformance with and application of policies and procedures.
  • Create, document and implement procedures for assembling, testing and packaging
    processes.
  • Designs, installs and debugs tooling and new capital equipment.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement activities.
  • Develops training systems and support documentation for associates.
  • Serves as the site EHS representative
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Expert use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with CAD software, AutoCAD preferred
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, specifically ISO-9001
  • Must be a strong team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Ability to summarize significant
information to concise summaries and recommendations
  • Ability to objectively evaluate alternative solutions
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Printing and/or converting industry experience preferred
  • Ability to use Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project and Visual Basic
experience
  • Knowledge of statistical tools; GR&Rs, SPC, DOE's, Ppk's
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Training Certification and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
and/or ASQ Mechanical Inspector certification
