Human Resources Generalist
The Human Resource Generalist manages and oversees the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources function for Marian Village. This position ensures that position accountability is executed in alignment with the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Mission and Values.
Duties
- Coordinates Human Resource activities to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as employee compensation, leadership development, coaching, recruitment, HR policies, wellness, and regulatory compliance.
- Champions culture change and initiatives to establish the site as a top place to work.
- Facilitates effective associate relations within the community.
- Leads HRIS initiatives to train and ensure local adoption at the site.
- Develops HR planning strategies in line with community and ministry goals.
- Works with Home Office to identify and develop recruitment and sourcing strategies, as well as to determine appropriate staffing levels.
- Recruits talent by conducting interviews and managing the selection process.
- Maintains the position control function for the community to ensure all staffing requests are within the approved budgeted FTEs.
- Interprets and advises on employment legislation; implements policies on a variety of workplace issues e.g. disciplinary procedures, absence management, working conditions, performance management, and equal employment opportunity.
- Addresses associate concerns and implements corrective action procedures.
- Administers and interprets human resources policies and procedures for leadership and associates. Keeps leadership and associates abreast of enhancements or changes to policies. Ensures leadership is consistent in their application of policies for staffing, promotion, discipline, and termination.
- Works with an understanding of applicable state and federal laws and regulations ensuring at all times the potential of liability is reduced. Consults with Home Office Human Resources regarding issues of pending litigation, EEO, and discrimination.

- Works in office areas throughout the facility.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to maintain the care and use of administrative supplies, equipment, etc, and maintain the Human Resources department in a clean, safe and attractive manner.

- Responsible for monthly Associate events, team buidling, training events, creating a joyful & knowledgeable team.
- Responsible for JOY Wall, associate of the month/quarter/year events
- Responsible for File management
- Other tasks as assigned
Physical Demands of the Position
- Sits stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Must be knowledgeable of Federal and State laws and regulations as well as functional aspects of HR.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of working knowledge of benefit and leave administration and related regulations required.
- Working knowledge of employment principles, Federal and State labor laws, and regulations required.
- Healthcare organization is preferred but not required.
- Retirement Community, UKG HRIS; ICIMS ADP/Kronos payroll experience is preferred.
