The Material Handler will be working in the Norfolk, VA location. This is a full-time, service contract act (SCA) position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Secret Clearance Required. Perform a variety of warehousing duties, which require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. Work involves most of the following:

Coordinating and expediting flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between various buildings in accordance with Facility Manager or Facility Staff Engineer(s) priorities. Reviewing production schedules and conferring with Facilities Staff to determine material requirements. Arranging transfer of materials to meet production schedules; examining material to verify type specified for current project; and computing amount of material needed for specific job orders. Compiling reports of quantity and type of material on hand and coordinating with Facility Staff for the repair and assembly/installation of facilities unique material.

Responsibilities:

• Team player working with a team in performing duties/responsibilities.
• Load and unload materials in warehouses and storage facilities.
• Move materials from trucks, trains and other transport equipment.
• Receive materials into an organization and verify materials against invoices to ensure the accuracy of the delivery.
• Count or weigh parts to check quantity accuracy.
• Pick parts for shipment and package according to shipping procedures.
• Will fill out the appropriate paperwork to ship the product.
• Perform transactions in the inventory system to enter new quantities and, during shipping transactions, to remove inventory from stock.
• Use material moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts and dollies to bring products and materials to an appropriate location.
• Issue materials to departments in the organization upon request. This involves transacting inventory quantities to the department and delivering the parts to the work area.
• Monitors the stockroom inventory and reports discrepancies in quantities to supervisors.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Must have a Secret security clearance (no more than 2 yrs inactive).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
• Experience in general warehousing operations involving material receipt, storage, and issue.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more when required.
• General working knowledge of material handling equipment (MHE) equipment.
• Required to properly wear personal protective equipment when necessary.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft, Windows, Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (customer relations).
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• High School Diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
