Department Name: Monroe County Highway Department
Position Title: Mechanic
Position is responsible for completing repairs and maintenance on
Position Summary: county vehicles and machinery. Able to make diagnostic test as needed.
Transport vehicles and equipment to and from worksites as necessary.
Evaluate vehicle and equipment electrical problems and perform repairs as required. Occasionally performs duties as a Truck Driver when needed.
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED. Working knowledge, skill and ability to maintain all mechanics of trucks and heavy equipment. Working knowledge of safety procedures for working in or around heavy vehicles and heavy equipment. Ability to meet all departmental hiring requirements, including passage of a drug test and medical exam. Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with required endorsements and demonstrated safe driving record. Provide own tools.
Salary: $21.59 per hour plus benefits (tool allowance provided)
