Job description
As a Mechanical Engineer, reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will join an industry leader in the design and build of new hydraulic trailers and construction trailers as well improvements to existing products. Your first assignment will focus on the design of new products as well as the improvement of existing products. You will drive continuous improvement through process improvements, creation and/or use of existing quality systems including 5S/Lean and Six Sigma. During your first years you will be groomed to move into a management role in operations.
As Mechanical Engineer you will:
- Implement product and process improvements through the design change process with a strong focus on verification tools to predict success and safety.
- Improve plant performance in the areas of efficiency and labor through product and process change.
- Facilitate change in the organization through data gathering to prioritize activities and using the data to validate positive impact.
- Initiate and review engineering change orders. Update bills of materials (BOM) across product line, as necessary. Coordinate BOM management with all departments.
- Be instrumental in the creation, training, and implementation of a quality system to drive a consistent stable process as well to drive process improvement.
- Take initiative to recommend and develop processes with respect to engineering and manufacturing areas to drive consistency in approach, methods, and results..
As Mechanical Engineer your background should include:
- BSME or BSMET preferred. Associate’s degree with additional experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2-3years year of Experience in a design/manufacturing environment.
- AutoCad and 3-D modeling experience. Inventor experience a plus.
- Demonstrated use of Mechanical Engineering verification tools/techniques, ISO/QS Quality systems, projects resulting in cost/quality/delivery improvements.
- Troubleshooting skills
- Engineering theory hand calculations as well as use of FEA for verification
- Knowledge of basic electric circuitry and hydraulic systems preferred
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Track record of strong teamwork
- Desire to be groomed for a management role in operations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
