POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Media Planner assists the Media Director in being her right-hand person (or left-hand person, ambidextrous also accepted) in research, planning and placement of all clients’ advertising campaigns, including establishing appropriate media and budgets for clients and maintaining good relationships with all media reps.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bona fide love of shopping…media opportunities and price negotiations.
  • Ability to accurately work with numbers and manage budgets – counting on fingers (and toes) is not going to cut it.
  • Time management skills – can hit a deadline and still be smiling.
  • Comfortable with talking to other humans via phone, email and in-person (not just on zoom – sometimes in the same room, novel but true).
  • Ability to think ahead and be proactive – crystal ball not required…magic 8-ball maybe.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Media & Marketing Department General

  • Research and develop effective media plans.
  • Meet, communicate and follow up with media representatives and vendors.
  • Draft and issue insertion orders for all paid media placed.
  • Establish deadlines for materials needed and report deadlines to the creative department.
  • Maintain all digital and hard copy resources and media files, backing up and updating constantly.
  • Monthly review of media invoices; check client invoices and media affidavits against insertion orders.
  • Constantly maintain digital and hard copy media, including tearsheet files.
  • Research new media opportunities and alert the media director of special media offers/placement opportunities, etc.
  • Draft and prepare media results evaluation and documentation.
  • Provide general office administrative duties as backup support, such as answering phones, server organization, and greeting clients.

The Fine Print: Qualifications

  • Preferred Experience – 2-4 years of paid-media buying or sales experience, some client-relations experience
  • Must have some experience with paid-media buying for print ads and commercials.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some college education is preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint), and Mac Mail/Outlook.
  • English usage and grammar consistent with company standards.
  • Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment such as computers, copy machines, printers, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
