Job description
As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of medical team as well as administration staff. You will support the medical team through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Organize and schedule appointments.
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
- Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services as needed.
- Check with patients and type up patients notes and updates as it pertains to care as outlined by LVN or medical staff designee.
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms updating staff on needs and instructions as it pertains to upcoming appointments.
- Provide/accompany transportation to and from appointments as needed.
- The maintenance of an organized and secure medical record format.
- Maintain complete, comprehensive, and accurate medical records adhering to all State, Federal and outside accrediting agency rules and regulations in content of medical record.
- Supervises the collection, processing, maintenance, storage, retrieval, appropriate access and distribution of medical records.
- Responds appropriately to corporate requests during times of audit, inspections, surveys, etc. from State, Federal and accrediting agencies.
- Updating the Medical Record system to reflect the dates of previous visits.
- Assures reports, histories and physicals, progress notes, labs, testing and all other patient information shall be incorporated into the medical record in a timely manner.
- Follow up with staff to ensure that medical records do not become delinquent.
- Other Duties as assigned by management staff
Skills
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
- Experience with interacting with people with developmental disabilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
