TCA Health, Inc., NFP, a mission driven, federally qualified health center, dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of the far South side, is seeking to hire a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant manages patient flow problems and assists in instituting corrective actions and monitors clinical staff performance in compliance with established time frames. This position regularly interfaces with providers, managers and staff to assist to facilitate communication and improvement activities.
Assists Physicians/NPs/FNPs/Pas/Nurses in providing quality health care to patients.
Ensures appropriate forms for documentation are included in medical records.
Interviews patients and measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, head circumference (for infants).
Records information on patients' charts.
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
Maintains inventory and orders medical supplies and materials.
Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests under physician instructions.
Maintains and sanitizes medical instruments and examination rooms as required by OSHA and other health standards.
Abides by all HIPPA guidelines in protection patient privacy.
Schedules appointments, keeps medical records, performs secretarial tasks, and completes insurance forms.
Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
Provide health Screenings and assist in the community as needed
Provide COVID-19 FAQ’s and educational material with daily status updates (as available) from our Clinical Affairs team
Provide Pre-Screenings for Covid-19
Be able to check temperature using a thermometer
Be able to wear required PPE for up to 8 hours per shift (face mask, eye protection, medical gloves, etc.)
Be able to work in an outdoor environment (subject to change)
Be able to properly sanitize/sterilize equipment:
Sterilization of equipment/instruments used
Inventory and ordering of medical and office supplies
Provide patient care (where necessary) according to Patient Care Protocol
Persons in this position will be conducting case interviews & contact tracing for individuals who have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Track and record all required data in approved data collection system.
Providing negative results and follow up
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
One-year certificate from college or technical school
One (1)+ year(s) experience and/or training as a Medical Assistant, preferably in Pediatrics
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Medical Assistant Certification of Training from an accredited school or association and current CPR/AED certification required.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following qualifications;

Willing to travel to school-based clinic, meetings and other satellite sites as necessary.
Able to adapt to change and maintain a professional demeanor.
Able to handle a fast-paced diverse workplace in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal/oral communication skills and organizational and typing skills preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per hour
