The Opportunity
Catherine’s is actively seeking a full-time Medical Assistant who will be an integral support to providers in the delivery of compassionate and high-quality services to patients at our newly expanded Streams of Hope facility.

Job Summary
Our Medical Assistant works as part of team-based care, which includes medical professionals, volunteers, and students involved in daily patient care. Catherine’s MA’s support all aspects of patient flow in the clinic setting; perform procedures, communications, and patient education according to established organizational protocols, and perform clerical functions as needed. Catherine’s hosts both uncertified and certified Medical Assistants and assigns duties and responsibilities based on the established MA Progression Model (Level I, II, III), or as directed by the Practice Manager.

Position Supervisor: Practice Manager
Description of Duties/Responsibilities (Clinical Medical Assistant I)
- Comply with appropriate regulations including HIPAA, CLIA and OSHA
- Act as a resource for patients, staff, volunteers, students, and providers
- Follow established clinical protocols as applicable
- Appropriately document patient interactions, maintaining confidentiality as required
- Perform daily patient flow functions
- Assist with and/or perform clinical procedures, including venipuncture and point-of-care testing
- Follow established protocols for chart preparation
- Effectively communicate clinical information and test results per provider
- Perform opening/closing responsibilities, maintain inventory, and keep assigned areas cleaned & stocked
- Complete screenings and wellness forms (e.g. PHQ, GAD)
- Communicate Lab results
- Handle hazardous waste and maintain knowledge of applicable protocols
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and clinic community activities as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Description of Duties/Responsibilities (Clinical Medical Assistant II)
- All duties & responsibilities of the Medical Assistant I
- Schedule, check-in/check-out patients, and block/freeze appointments as needed
- Manage INR; complete lab visits, perform prior authorizations; transcribe as needed
- Provides translation/interpreter support for the clinic as needed in a second language;
- Performs telephone triage as directed;
- Work with specialists and coordinate referrals as needed
- Act as backup vaccine coordinator
- Performs other duties as assigned
Description of Duties/Responsibilities (Clinical Medical Assistant III)
- All duties & responsibilities of the Medical Assistant II
- Act as primary vaccine coordinator
- Order Inventory and monitor controls on equipment monthly
- Plan Pre-visits
- Assist with training, precepting, and setting agendas
- Accurately complete disability/leave paperwork in a timely manner
Minimum Position Qualifications: Clinical Medical Assistant I
- Graduate of accredited medical assistant training program;
- OR at least 1 year of relevant experience in medical office or similar setting as an MA, CNA, EMT, Pharm Tech, etc.
- Active BLS certification
Minimum Position Qualifications: Clinical Medical Assistant II
- Graduate of accredited medical assistant training program
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration in the State of Michigan;
- OR Equivalent years of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role
- Active BLS certification
Minimum Position Qualifications: Clinical Medical Assistant III
- Graduate of accredited medical assistant training program
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration in the State of Michigan;
- OR Equivalent years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office setting
- Active BLS certification
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements: (Clinical Medical Assistant I, II, III)
- Experience with an electronic medical records system
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with diverse populations
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-orientated environment
- Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner
- Ability to demonstrate competency with a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including a basic understanding of e-mail, internet and computer navigation, ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job
