Description

Glasgow State Nursing Facility (GSNF) may be the place for you. We are a state-of-the-art 100-bed long-term care nursing facility for individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities. We are seeking a Medication Aide for our team in caring and improving the daily lives of our residents.

This job requires mandatory COVID 19 vaccination or an approved exemption in accordance with CMS-3415-IFC from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This means if appointed to the position, the applicant must have completed the primary vaccination series for COVID-19, which means the administration of a single-dose vaccine or the administration of all required doses of a multi-dose vaccine upon commencement of employment. The vaccine received must be one of the FDA-approved or FDA-authorized vaccines. Proof of vaccination will be required. If a medical or religious exemption is sought, the candidate must submit paperwork to the employer prior to appointment for review and approval.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performs Delegated Duties In Medication Administration, Treatment, and Care of Patients/Residents Under the Direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse & Performs Other Duties as Required.
  • Prepares, Administers, Charts, Audits & Accepts Responsibility for Medication & Treatments Within Their Certification. Per-Forms Medical Treatment Under the Supervision of Licensed Nurse.
  • Accepts and Accounts for Drugs and Related Paraphernalia.
  • Assists Residents In Activities of Daily Living Such as Bathing, Toileting, Feeding & Providing Oral & Hair Care.
  • Records Residents Food & Fluid Intake, Bowel & Urine Output, Vital Signs & Behaviors. Reports Unusual Incidents With Staff or Residents to a Licensed Staff.
  • Aids Residents In Preparation for Activities Within and Outside of the Facility.
  • Attends In-Service Training Programs. Participates In Drills for & Responds to Facility Emergencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): 1. Must possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as administered by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing. https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/kar/906/001/100.pdf https://kbn.ky.gov 2. In addition, must possess documentation of having successfully passed the medication aide competency examination as administered by Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). https://nurseaide.kctcs.edu/kma/index.aspx Acceptable documentation is as follows: Training received AFTER December, 1990: Letter from a Kentucky Community and Technical College OR from the Kentucky Community and Technical College Systems office indicating the applicant has passed the competency exam for Kentucky medication aide. Training received PRIOR to December, 1990: Certificate of completion of Medication Administration Course for unlicensed personnel. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
