Title: Mid-Level Engineer
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Job Type: Regular Full-time
What’s the Opportunity?
Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time mid-level engineer in our Baltimore, Maryland office to support our local and regional teams with a mix of geotechnical, civil, coastal, and environmental engineering design. The applicant will have 4-8 years of experience involving engineering design including site investigation, construction drawings and specifications, cost estimating, project and task management, and construction oversight. Experience with waterfront projects including dredging, capping, stream restoration, confined disposal facilities, beneficial reuse, beach nourishment, wetland construction, coastal design or other aspects of work within streams, rivers, lakes, or coastal regions is preferred. Experience with geotechnical engineering evaluations related to sediments a plus. Knowledge of local regulatory requirements is desired. Experience with using CAD or GIS for site planning, design, calculations, and oversight is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and/or preparing design plans and specifications for dredging and coastal projects
- Overseeing and/or developing engineer’s cost estimates and construction schedules for designs
- Developing and reviewing technical project work
- Preparing and coordinating sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation and feasibility study reports, and design documents, including technical specifications
- Task management, including team assignments and coordination, client interaction, and production of deliverables
- Developing construction planning documents and providing construction observations and management support
- Mentoring junior staff on engineering principles
- Travel to support sampling or construction projects up to 30% of time
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- B.S. degree in civil, environmental, coastal, or geotechnical engineering is preferred
- 4-8 years of experience
- P.E. licensure in the State of Maryland is desired, but consideration will be given to individuals on track to become licensed in 1-2 years
- Experience with in-water and upland remediation and/or restoration sites, including the planning and implementation of sampling, data analysis, feasibility studies, and design. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in contaminated sediments, including capping and dredging remediation projects, experience with clean dredging/beneficial reuse of dredge material, and/or experience with geotechnical engineering involving slope stability, sediments, and foundation soils.
- Strong understanding of the application of engineering principles to engineering design, including cost estimating, development of plans and specifications, development of bid packages, development of dredge plans, and overseeing design implementation in the field (i.e., construction management)
- Experience with mentoring and training junior staff on engineering principles
- Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Project)
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
- Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, or willingness to be trained
- Transport Worker Identification Card (TWIC) certification, or the ability to receive within 1 year
