Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Mold Shop Tooling Technician based in York, PA (Farmbrook Plant). This opening is for 1ST SHIFT >, which operates during the hours of 7am to 3pm.

The Blow Mold Tooling Technician is responsible to clean, perform inspections and minor repairs on blow mold tooling and associated components. This position will also be required to manage receiving tooling from and shipping tooling to other Graham plants while maintaining traceability on all tooling moving through the Farmbrook plant. The Blow Mold Tooling Technician will maintain proper 5s standards within the mold maintenance shop and storage areas. Record keeping using SAP PM and other computer applications such as Microsoft Excel are required.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support, promote and implement the safety initiatives within the plant to meet the safety mission and culture defined by Graham Packaging Co.
  • Follow all Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) rules as required.
  • Submit STOP Card observations to identify safety concerns and promote safety awareness.
  • Use shop and plant tools in a safe manner to avoid injury or harm to self or other employees.
  • Be proficient with all relevant measuring devices
  • Ensure tooling components are properly prepared and staged for the Rapid Changeover team prior to scheduled changeovers in a way that meets the rapid changeover process.
  • Participate in Rapid Changeover and Continuous Improvement meetings as required, to continually improve the rapid changeover process.
  • Ensure tooling and tooling storage area is in clean ‘showroom condition’ at all times.
  • Establish and maintain 5S practices in the tooling storage area.
  • Develop, review and perform preventative maintenance on tooling.
  • Ensure tooling is always in a production ready state by performing post-production maintenance and cleanings prior to returning tooling to storage.
  • Evaluate tooling checklist and comments prior to performing preventative maintenance to identify the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Continually evaluate tooling for improvement opportunities or conditional repair.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation to support tooling inspections, repairs and replacements.
  • Communicate problems, progress reports and continuous improvement ideas to the maintenance manager.
  • Perform additional PM tasks as instructed or outlined by the maintenance manager.
  • Communicate with production and maintenance personnel to understand and identify improvement opportunities.

May perform duties and responsibilities as a member of the Changeover Team as needed or required.
Qualifications

Two year Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field is preferred. A minimum of five years Industrial Maintenance Technician experience is strongly preferred.

Maintenance Technicians are required to interact with managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:

  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds frequently
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
  • Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
