  • Lead generation of design specifications and requirements for the motor subsystem portion of 3-in-1 electric drive systems
  • Write detailed specification tenders, statements of work and supporting documentation to define motor subsystem and requests for quotation
  • Support mechanical and electrical integration of motor subsystem into highly compact, power dense electric drive units
  • Position will be responsible for developing all subsystem interface requirements, including rotor, stator, resolver, bus bars, rotor shaft, bearings, etc.
  • Work with systems engineers to refine and optimize overall system attributes (ex. motor design/sizing vs. gearing and control)
  • Position will be responsible for developing all subsystem attribute requirements, including quality, cost, weight, function and timing
  • Lead generation of all subsystem engineering/quality documentation (DFMEA, DVP&R, Boundary Diagrams, PD, Functional Safety, etc.)
  • Support requirements cascade with interfacing components and activities
  • Identify competitive benchmarking needs and work in partnership with benchmarking organization to collect needed data
  • Develop initial sourcing and manufacturing strategies in collaboration with Purchasing and Manufacturing organizations
  • Follow Program Management and Stage Gate development processes to meet project goals
  • Document lessons learned and update OneDana design rules, methods and procedures as applicable
  • Position is not responsible for electromagnetic design of motor, but should have awareness of motor design process

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical or related engineering discipline
    • Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience executing primary duties and responsibilities for similar applications
  • Strong overall knowledge of electrified drive subsystems (motor, inverter, gearbox, software)
  • Strong understanding of attribute / target-setting process
  • Strong experience applying Systems Engineering Fundamentals and adherence to process/principals.
    • Application of SEF to powertrain/hybrid programs is preferred
  • Working level experience with requirements mgt. tools such as Doors, Polarion, VSEM, or Enterprise Architect.
  • Significant experience creating/reviewing quality documentation including DFMEA, BD, PD, IM, DVP&R, RDM, RCL, SDS, etc.
    • Direct application experience with team leadership preferred
  • Working level knowledge of subsystem/component manufacturing/assembly methods
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of deliverables and lead resolution of issues
  • Must be a self-directed and motivated individual who is organized and able to accept multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside of Dana in a professional manner
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, planning, problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to successfully function in and lead cross-functional teams
  • Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally (5-10% typical)
  • Position may be based in Novi, MI or Maumee, OH; remote-hybrid with 3 days on site; periodic support in Maumee will be required during prototype build and testing
