Overview:
The Motor Vehicle Mechanic Helper will provide daily vehicle maintenance support for the Transportation Motor Pool GSA Vehicles under direct supervision. Responsibilities:

The Motor Vehicle Mechanic Helper will provide daily vehicle maintenance support for the Transportation Motor Pool GSA Vehicles under direct supervision.
- Ensure hand wash and automatic wash bays are clean and functioning properly.
- Clean interior and exterior of vehicles as needed.
- Inspect vehicles for cleanliness and PMCS when necessary.
- Check vehicle fluid levels and fill when necessary.
- Inspect vehicles for damage and report all damages found.
- Inspect vehicle tires and add air when necessary or write up and turn in to shop for repair.
- Shuttle vehicles to various places as necessary.
- Assist customer with PMCS if necessary.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the TMP yard.
- Work closely with dispatchers to ensure vehicles are being taken care of properly.
- Perform a joint PMCS with customer after the use of a vehicle.
- Perform GSA marshalling duties on new vehicles to include but not limited to inspecting the vehicle, removing transport items, installing miscellaneous items, and scanning tags due to vehicles being shipped in transport mode.
- Inspect vehicle being turned back into GSA for sale purposes.
- Cross train as dispatcher.
- Other duties as assigned
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Must possess and continuously maintain a current valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be computer literate (knowledge of Excel spreadsheets is a plus.)

- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
