The Gift Shop at the Peabody Essex Museum is searching for an experienced Store Manager to lead our sales team and become the key ambassador for our highly acclaimed shops. This individual must thrive in spending most of their work hours on the sales floor, creating and maintaining merchandise presentations, delegating tasks to the sales team, and interfacing with customers daily. Must be outgoing and able to engage with visitors, understand the ever-changing exhibition presentations, and speak to the connection of the merchandise to shows and museum collections.

The Store Manager is skilled at motivating the sales team and providing the tools for the team to be successful. This includes creating a monthly work schedule that stays within budget, respectfully responding to issues that may arise with the team, training and guidance, communicating and distributing information during morning and monthly store staff meetings, and reporting to the Director of Merchandising weekly.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to stock replenishment, cash reconciliation, merchandising, team training, POS maintenance, and sales. At least one weekend day is required. This individual must be highly organized and have some leadership experience.

Experience or curiosity about art, museums, and culture is essential. Associates Degree or High School Diploma and combination of relevant experience required. Minimum of 3-5 years in a retail management, retail buying, or retail supervisory experience required. Knowledge and experience with POS systems and technical proficiency in using database software and reporting systems preferred.
