NAS / NetApp Automation Engineer

Required Clearance: Must be able to pass a federal background Investigation and obtain a Public Trust
Location: Kansas City, MO
Remote Flexibility: 90% Remote

Position Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes and designs automated provisioning techniques to deploy storage systems/volumes and associated software.
  • Day to day will be working on Storage automation projects; creating and adhering to project timelines, conduct testing, implementation, and maintenance of automation tasks
  • Design and solve complex problems with automation first techniques utilizing client provided automation tools (Ansible, Perl, Python and PowerShell).
  • Support Network Attached Storage (NAS) / NetApp platform
  • Responsible for infrastructure support and projects including system design, planning, installations, configurations, upgrades and planning.
  • Provide storage infrastructure system management including capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning, security management etc.
  • Should Manage Tier-3 support following ITIL practice and incident management
  • Proven experience in complex, enterprise level NAS platform in a mission critical environment
  • Maintain and contribute to enterprise source code and configuration (git) repositories.
  • Utilize system tools to monitor performance, capacity, availability and perform storage system tuning.
  • Identifies/documents potential risks and develops risk-mitigation options to proactively address availability.
  • Maintain, remediate, ensure systems security:
    • Responsible for managing and maintaining systems compliance and hardening on all systems per client Policies, Standards, Regulations, and Notices.
    • Address and resolve security vulnerabilities on system software and hardware.
    • Participates in security monitoring and updating of certification/accreditation procedures.
  • Provide 24x7/365 remote support services and on-premises facility response as needed.
  • Perform patch/fix research and system software upgrades through service packs and other software bundling methodologies, using current DISC patching techniques and automated patching products used at the client site.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and changing industry/vendor best-practices for respectively assigned functional areas.
  • Ensure availability of customer access to systems.
  • Provide direct customer technical support for systems and storage engineering related incidents, changes, and inquiries.
  • Communicates to internal and external customers potential risk, on-going issues and post-mortem root cause analysis.
  • Schedule, perform and maintain backups as necessary (including restoration) to facilitate data integrity, data storage and backup/recovery procedures, as required.
  • The contractor must demonstrate an understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT business customers.
  • Provide knowledge transfer documentation to the client as required.

Storage Services
  • Installation and ongoing maintenance
    • NAS, SAN, Backup/Recovery, etc.
    • Working knowledge of various storage protocols such as S3, FC, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, etc.
    • Integration between storage systems and supporting platforms such as VMware, Kubernetes, Ansible, etc.

Essential Skills, Experience, and Certifications:
  • As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be either a U.S. Citizen or have official legal status in the United States. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C), Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
  • 3-6 years of experience with Network Attached Storage and NetApp Administration; experience with NetApp / Data ONTAP versions 9.X preferred
  • Strong experience in NetApp 7-mode and cluster-mode configuration and support
  • In-depth knowledge of NetApp Snap suite of products (Snapmirror, Virtual Storage console, SnapManager for Oracle, SnapManager for SQL etc.), ISCSI, NFS, CIFS
  • Knowledge in Windows clusters, VMware troubleshooting, SQL Clustering and Virtual storage troubleshooting mandatory
  • 1 year of hands-on experience with Automation, ideally within NetApp or Storage environments; must have experience with Ansible, Perl, Python and PowerShell
  • Must have networking experience; Cisco Networking background preferred
  • Must have working knowledge of complex enterprise systems networking configurations utilizing Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Fiber Channel Protocol (FCP) networking.
  • Experience or training with AWS Cloud environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. All contractor employees must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to management and others.
  • DISC follows the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices.
  • ITIL v4 foundation certification is required within 6 months of hire
    • Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.
