Description of Work:
The Counselors for Computing (C4C) Strategy Manager is responsible for developing the overall vision for the C4C program’s growth and ongoing success in fulfilling its mission. This position leads the efforts of multiple C4C consultants and strategically builds relationships with targeted partners from the K-12 sector, including school counselor associations.

This position will be responsible for the following:

Strategic Program Development and Relationship Management

  • Form strategic partnerships and support long-term collaborations between C4C and other national programs aimed at increasing student access to computer science education.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with funders and potential funders. Provide those funders with opportunities for involvement in C4C programs.
  • Encourage meaningful connections between the C4C program and members of the NCWIT K12 Alliance.
  • Represent and champion the C4C program internally at NCWIT, and externally.
  • Develop relationships with counselor preparation programs to encourage the infusion of C4C content into course curriculum.
  • Manage processes for crafting, collecting, and reporting evaluation data for C4C program and resources with the C4C external program evaluator.
  • Identify and supervise C4C Regional Counselor Consultants (RCs).

Internal Program Management

  • Collaborate with project teams at NCWIT to implement quality, mutually-supportive programs, and projects.
  • Coordinate with, and support efforts of, NCWIT Communications to generate publicity to raise awareness of C4C programs and projects.
  • Work with C4C Program Evaluators to evaluate and improve program outcomes and summarize program evaluation data for funders and NCWIT.
  • Work with the Communications and Technology teams to develop and manage the C4C program website and other related program materials.

Other

  • Support the ongoing fundraising efforts for C4C and K12 Alliance by contributing to grant proposals and writing funding requests.
  • Contribute to stewardship and grant reports for sponsors.
  • Serve as backup to the other NCWIT C4C Program Manager, and support the C4C Program Manager and C4C Community Coordinator Consultant with project management and program delivery as needed.

Skills Required:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with three years or more of professional experience including experience in K-12 Education or Computing fields.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Willingness and ability to travel (up to 15% time).

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of issues and conditions related to computer science education and equitable access.
  • Knowledge of national and state policies/standards for K-12 school counselors.
  • Critical thinking coupled with relationship-building skills.
  • Agile approach.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day work of consultants.
  • Ability to define a project as well as implement and manage it.
  • Ability to learn and respond quickly to situations that arise on a day-to-day basis.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with women & computing and the NCWIT mission.
  • Detail oriented with excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work equally well with youth, industry executives, educators, and non-profit leaders.
  • Proficiency in public speaking.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software, and demonstrated experience with project management software.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Development and grant writing skills.
  • Sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural, political, and geographical differences.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $64,000.00 per year
