We are currently seeking a Network Engineer to join the team in our New Cumberland, PA office. Under the direction of the Director of IT, the Network Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting Berks Homes IT infrastructure, and services.

The Network Engineer is responsible for the management and migration from traditional infrastructure to a cloud-based automated infrastructure. This individual plays an integral part in advancing the cloud ecosystem and culture of technical excellence. This individual champions the cloud management platform, focusing on infrastructure automation, supporting hybrid cloud solutions, and demonstrating abilities of all cloud-as-a-service varieties: PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, etc. The Network Engineer builds the next generation of cloud infrastructure; as a key contributor will support end-to-end private/public cloud automation IT and infrastructure application delivery, including infrastructure provisioning and integration with continuous integration/continuous development platforms, using existing and emerging technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides onsite support to the Mohnton, Harrisburg, and State College offices
  • Provides tier 1, 2, and 3-level support for the Help Desk
  • Installs, maintains, and supports network operating system software
  • Maintains network server hardware and software, installing service packs and performing routine maintenance
  • Provides technical assistance to application development, IT personnel, and business areas
  • Performs error determination and resolution on local and wide area networks
  • Installs, maintains, and supports third party IT applications
  • Installs and configures server and storage operating systems and hardware
  • Installs, configures, and supports VMware software, infrastructure, and virtual machines
  • Responds to server or network outages ensuring resolution
  • Provides technical support to applications development and operations on network and OS issues
  • Using Microsoft Intune, creates application objects and configures devices for delivery to users
  • Creates application objects and configures for delivery to users (Intune)
  • Maintains system security including file system rights, and object rights
  • Maintains perimeter security including firewall configuration and remote access
  • Maintains corporate anti-virus protection including both server and desktop as well as e-mail gateway
  • Troubleshoots internet connectivity issues including, but not limited to, intranet, SharePoint, VPN server, e-mail, and FTP
  • Maintains network infrastructure including configuration of Cisco switches, routers, and firewall and cabling
  • Performs research on innovative technologies and makes recommendations to management
  • Supports external network users
  • Maintains public IP addresses and DNS records
  • Maintains corporate e-mail system, planning for growth and expansion while performing routine system maintenance
  • Develops/suggests security monitoring methods
  • Ensures enforcement of security protocol for IS
  • Documents and tracks all licensing and license maintenance
  • Manages network and server hardware inventory
  • Manages hardware maintenance contracts
  • Develops and provides security reports and analysis for management review
  • Administrates the IT vulnerability scans and reports
  • Assists in revisions and development of IT Network and Security policies
  • Travels to Berks Homes assigned regional offices as needed

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science preferred
  • 5 years minimum technical experience as a Network Engineer or System Administrator in a Windows Server/Windows environment preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Office 365 required
  • Advanced knowledge of VPN environments required
  • Advanced knowledge of computer troubleshooting required
  • Advanced knowledge of standard business systems security methods required
  • General knowledge of business network topography required
  • Ability to work independently, under minimal supervision, and in a team environment required
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects required
  • Aptitude for detail-oriented work required
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment required
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality as it relates to confidential company and employee information required
  • Advanced knowledge of Network hardware and software, and configuration (firewalls, switches, routers) required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with the ability to effectively interact with all levels within the company required
  • Familiarity with creating reports and presenting data analysis preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune administration and support
  • Experience with administrating and supporting Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with cyber security, network, and virtualization technologies required
  • Experience migrating infrastructure to a cloud environment required
  • Experience in business-critical system design including Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution required
  • MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Flexible work structure that allows for remote work and work from the assigned Berks Homes location. Work week is Monday through Friday, days, with occasional evening or weekend hours when required. The candidate is expected to work consistent hours and to seldom be absent from work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primarily seated. At times, this position may require bending, squatting, kneeling, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Occasionally, there may be lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently, you must be able to read and comprehend, write effectively and professionally, perform analysis and calculations, construct detailed spreadsheets, and orally communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to travel to Berks Homes assigned regional.
  • The main equipment/machinery used is the computer, telephone, printer, and scanner.
