Under general supervision, monitors and controls the organization's network and server environments. Manages performance and maintains security. Ensures that security procedures are up-to-date, implemented and enforced. Installs and monitors network and server software. Troubleshoots network and server problems.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Applies knowledge of network operations to assignments of moderate complexity
- Performs daily data backup, recovery and archiving functions
- Performs routine testing and solves problems with network and server components
- Maintains operating records/logs and production reports to track server and network activity
- Installs, maintains and monitors usage of organization's wired and wireless, local and wide-area networks
- Maintains network security by ensuring that security procedures are implemented and enforced
- Installs network and server software and updates
- Troubleshoots network and server problems
- Works on technical projects requiring expertise and creativity in evaluation and deployment of technology
- Investigates and tests new tools, systems, techniques, and software products
- Associate college degree or equivalent in computer science preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience
- 2-5 years of related experience with network/server operations
- Certification required in any of the following: Windows, Unix, Linux or Novell
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with a variety of audiences
- Ability to provide excellent customer service Ability to apply diagnostic techniques for problem troubleshooting
- Ability to follow instructions and documented procedures, as well as ability to provide feedback and compose and/or revise documented procedures
