Herzog is currently seeking a Network Specialist in Rancho Cucamonga, California to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions with in-house communications equipment and circuits.
  • Performed hardware/software maintenance, modifications, upgrades, and installations.
  • Monitored and maintained Metrolink Train Control Network
  • Create documents and reports related to the back office and train control network.
  • Expedite investigations and repairs of malfunctioning wayside equipment.
  • Complied with any portion of the FRA 49 CFR Part 234, GCOR, Metrolink Timetable, General Orders or Special Instructions that are in any way related to the above-outlined responsibilities, as well as any policies and procedures dictated by Herzog and SCRRA
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Windows application and system management preferred

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Signal experienced preferred
  • TMDS experience preferred
  • PTC experience preferred
  • IT experience preferred
  • Must posses basic to intermediate computer and networking skills
  • Basic understanding of railroad field, dispatching operations and safety required.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Consistently demonstrates technical skills/knowledge when performing the duties and responsibilities of the position
  • Ability to make intuitive logical leaps without all necessary data to locate non-obvious network issues
  • Ability to react quickly to changing, fast-paced environments

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
