Job description

New Graduate (less than one year experience ) candidates can receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus and $5,000 relocation stipend (if applicable). To support your professional development, we offer up to $5,250 per year in education reimbursement, which can be used for tuition assistance, student loan forgiveness, or to obtain additional certifications/licenses.

You.

You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as a New Grad Registered Respiratory Therapist.

Your compassion is tangible: patients feel it in the hand they hold. Families feel it in your prayers. Colleagues feel it in your support.

You’re equally comfortable with patient assessments, diagnostic testing procedures, clinical documentation, and patient education.

You’re great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.

Us.

SCL Health is a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. As a New Graduate Respiratory Therapist with us, you will be responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per physician, with emphasis in specialty areas (i.e. Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric and Critical Care), monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, understanding ramifications of hemodynamic monitoring, understanding blood work results, monitoring, teaching, and training.

SCL Health is hiring New Grad Respiratory Therapists in the Denver metro area at these participating hospitals:

  • Good Samaritan Medical Center – Lafayette, Colorado
  • Lutheran Medical Center – Wheat Ridge, Colorado
  • Platte Valley Medical Center – Brighton, Colorado
  • Saint Joseph Hospital – Denver, Colorado

Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, we’ve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.

We.

Together we’ll align mission and careers, values and workplace. We’ll encourage joy and take pride in our integrity.

We’ll laugh at each other’s jokes (even the bad ones). We'll say hello and high five. We’ll celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.

We’re proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.

Your day.

As a New Grad Registered Respiratory Therapist, you need to know how to:

  • Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol in complex patient care departments, including critical care, neonatal, and/or surgery.
  • Obtain arterial gasses. Oversee and troubleshoot the operation of equipment for optimal patient care.
  • Maintain awareness of assigned patients' overall condition. Communicate and share patient information with the physicians and nurses. Make appropriate recommendations for patient care.
  • Recognize the educational needs of patients and families in relation to health promotion and wellness. Teach patients and families self-care techniques and modalities.
  • Identify potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff, and take appropriate actions.

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved program for Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current license for Respiratory Therapy in the state of practice.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within (60) days of hire (with prior approval)

Your next move.

Now that you know more about being a Respiratory therapist we hope you’ll join us. At SCL Health you’ll reaffirm every day how much you love this work, and why you were called to it in the first place.
