Job description
Star Tribune is seeking part-time Mailers to assemble newspaper sections and advertising inserts, and place into bundles to send out for distribution. This entry-level position is part of the final process of newspaper production. The position requires bending, lifting, standing and walking up to 7 hours per shift. We are a 7 day a week, 365 days per year operation, and shifts may include nights, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications:
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Read and follow directions
- 18 years of age or older
- Mechanical abilities; basic understanding of equipment; manual dexterity; high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous assembly, packaging, warehouse or distribution experience preferred
- Experience with forklifts and dollies preferred
- You may be required to operate a pallet jack, hand dolly, or other material moving equipment
Starting pay: This is a union role with a starting pay of $16.20/hour (potential to earn up to $19+/hour). Training opportunities to advance to foreperson or machine operators for motivated, energetic individuals.
Schedule: Flexible work schedule Monday through Saturday (day/hours will vary). Current shifts include:
- Days: 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, Fridays and Saturdays needed.
- Nights: 7:30 pm to 3:00 am, all nights needed, Friday night availability is preferred.
All job offers are contingent on the successful completion of a pre-placement drug screen, employment verification and criminal background check.
