Position: Hourly / Collectively Bargained

Description: To maintain the security and safety of the student body, faculty, and staff. Patrol campus and maintain the security of buildings and grounds at our Kingston Facility. This shift will be Wednesday-Sunday 10P-7AM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Kitchen/Housekeeping Manager, Assistant Director or Training Director.

  • Provide a safe secure environment for students, staff, and guests on campus. Checks in students on Sunday and prepares foodstuffs in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served. prepares and serves meals, washes dishes clean the kitchen and dining area and empties trash.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of action plans to provide a safe environment and immediate response to imminent threats of violence, criminal incidents, emergency medical incidents, auto accidents, and others.
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the Kitchen/Dining building, dormitory building, administrative building, and classroom building as needed.
  • Helps to create and maintain a working relationship with the local police and fire and rescue departments.
  • Regulate students' behavior on campus, in cafeterias, restrooms, parking lots, and other open areas.
  • Assist with controlling classroom disturbances or acts of defiance. Request assistance from school administration and/or police when necessary
  • Patrol and confront unauthorized persons for questioning and checking for passes and identification cards as needed.
  • Follow district policies and administrative rules and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff, and community members.
  • Reports directly to the Training Director.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have and maintain a current Food Handling Permit for Kitsap County.
  • Manages people; includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating a,nd process improvement; takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; provides regular performance feedback; solicits and applies customer feedback (internal & external); fosters quality focus in others; Improves processes, products and services; continually works to improve supervisory skills.

  • Observes safety and security procedures; uses equipment and materials properly; reports potentially unsafe conditions. Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; dependable and keeps commitments.
