Small Non-Profit Seeking Director

The Women’s Center for Healing and Transformation is located in Abita Springs, LA. The mission of the Center is to provide opportunities for growth, connection, and social change in a welcoming environment. We are seeking a Director to honor the work of our Founders yet cultivate new practices and resources for the future of the organization.

Our approach to filling the Director role is to phase in the individual over a 2-3 month period. They would initially start out at 20 hours a week and build up to 30 hours per week as they demonstrate competency. The salary would likewise evolve from $20/hour to $25/hour. During this period, the Director would work closely with our Acting Executive Director and the Leadership Council. The position is currently funded for 6 months. The Leadership Council and staff are dedicated to working with the new Director to extend the funding indefinitely.

Director responsibilities include (in order of importance):

• uphold the founding vision and maintain the culture of the organization.
• oversee and delegate the day-to-day operation and programs of the organization;
• obtain funding through fundraisers, grants, donations, special events, and other methods
• maintain current and build new community resources and partnerships;
• hire, evaluate and supervise staff;
• attend Leadership Council meetings and selectcommittee meetings;
• provide oversight for all financial transactions including overseeing the preparation of an annual budget;
• establish operating procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal laws, and policies set by the Leadership Council.

The position is based at the Women’s Center in Abita Springs, LA.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, creativity, initiative, resourcefulness, passion, tenacity, vision, and openness to new concepts.

Qualifications:

• Experience in managing a nonprofit organization, supervising staff, and maintaining financial accountability and sustainability.
• Alignment with the organization’s mission, inclusion policies, and shared leadership practices.
• Fundraising experience and success.
• The ability to serve as a figurehead for the organization (rally staff and volunteers, network and speak in public, address potential funders and donors) as well as work administratively behind the scenes.
• Skills and experience in collaboration with other nonprofits and community organizations.
• College degree in human services or related field and experience in the healing arts.
• Self-care practices.
