Woodward Resource Center (WRC) is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our Team. This job is located in Woodward, Iowa. Woodward is 35 minutes away from Ames and 34 minutes to Des Moines.

Licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist as issued by the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners.

This position provides Occupational Therapy services to assigned Individuals in a caseload, whether at the house, at day programming, or at leisure activities, functioning as a member of a professional Interdisciplinary Treatment Team member to develop each assigned Individual's Active Treatment Plan.

As part of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, evaluates, treats and documents progress of Individuals in a caseload, performing Team and Departmental functions so that Individual needs are met in areas of self-help, upper extremity function, sensory, environmental control, adapted devices and aids, community survival skills and swallowing/nutritional management.

Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Treatment Team members in the development of Individual Treatment Plan for each Individual in a caseload, that include specific skill areas of Occupational Therapy and other general functions of Individual habilitation plans.

As an Occupational Therapy professional, develops habilitating programs, provides training to staff providing direct support services as needed, to increase knowledge and provide support for Individual progress as evidenced by monitoring as needed throughout the treatment team review process.

Completes Occupational Therapy diagnostic assessments as required for Individual habilitation plans to develop therapeutic environments and programs as suggested by such assessments; completing professional reports as the need is indicated.

Provides diagnostic and consulting services as referred throughout the diagnostic and evaluation process to individuals on campus as well as those referred by other agencies, completing professional reports as the need is indicated.

Other related duties as assigned, which may include participation in committees that relate to Occupational Therapy services and other disciplines, as well as others, requested or assigned.

Under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS’s) new vaccine mandate for healthcare workers (published on November 5, 2021 and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court on January 13, 2022), all potential employees of this facility must have received, at a minimum, the first dose of a primary series or a single dose vaccine OR have an approved religious or medical exemption (as determined by the agency) OR have documentation reflecting a temporary delay in vaccination (as determined by the agency in accordance with CDC allowances), prior to the start date. Candidates shall coordinate with agency staff to ensure all requirements are met before the individual provides any care, treatment, or other services for the facility and/or its clients.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Licensure or a limited permit to practice as an Occupational Therapist as issued by the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners.

Additional Qualification Requirements

Designated positions in this job class require applicants to obtain the required Commercial Drivers License and endorsements within a period of time as determined by the appointing authority at the time of hire.

At the time of interview, applicants referred to Glenwood and Woodward State Hospital/Schools will be assessed to determine if they meet federal government employment requirements as published in the Federal Register, Volume 39, No. 12, Thursday, January 17, 1974, Section 20 CFR-405.1101.
