Location and hours:
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

This is a full-time, benefit-earning position.
This position is internally classified as an Office Specialist III.

In this position, you will:
- Screen applications to determine which programs residents are applying for and determine which system they need to be loaded into for program eligibility determination.
- Conduct thorough searches to determine if residents are listed in systems, so duplicates are not created.
- Reference multiple resources on a continuous basis in order to assign applications to the correct Human Service Representative team.
- Utilize automated tools to generate standardized case notes, perform in-depth screenings, and complete repetitive tasks.
- Track work using Excel spreadsheets.
- Enter, retrieve, and modify data in various county and state databases and data sharing systems.
- One of the following:
- Two years or more of full-time office clerical experience.
- Completion of two years or more of post-high school education.
- 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program or the Healthcare Clerical Pathway Training program.
- One year or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training program.
- Access to reliable transportation to travel among Hennepin County Service Center locations and satellite sites.
- Two years or more of experience simultaneously watching/monitoring multiple systems, tasks, and operations.
- Experience:
- Utilizing Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Providing service in a culturally diverse area and communicating with a diverse group of residents and coworkers.
- Collecting and reporting data and maintaining it in electronic databases.
- Knowledge of county or state program systems.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to conduct oneself professionally and handle sensitive/difficult issues in a tactful manner.
- Ability to:
- Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
- Serve and support customers using various communication methods, while giving clear and concise information and/or direction.
- Work independently with minimal direction, prioritize work, and work well under pressure.
