Primary Responsibilities

This position is requested by Water Business Group leadership in northern California. There is a need for an operations specialist on the following projects: San Jose, San Mateo and West County WW. This person will work on startup and commissioning efforts on these projects, and also provide operations expertise on design. Examples of duties and skills include:

  • Work independently on and lead the start-up or operation of plants
  • Represent the owner and help guide operational staff during a plant start-up or directly supervise plant operational staff
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
  • Perform administrative duties associated with project/construction management for civil/site projects.
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more – senior engineers/construction managers on larger projects.
  • Review design documents from an operations perspective for conformance to program requirements and specific operational attributes of Santa Cruz Water Program
  • Lead or support contractor testing, startup, and commissioning activities to ensure facilities are ready for the production so water, and perform according to specifications and designed capacity
  • Provide operator training, resolution of operational problems, and development of operations and maintenance manuals
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of plant mechanical, electrical and process functions, applicable plant technology, and plan performance requirements, including permit compliance requirements
  • Supervise other project-related staff as needed
  • Be responsible for personnel and process safety

Qualifications


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR Wastewater/Water 4-5 Operator certification

  • Minimum of 5yrs directly related industry experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word

  • Significant hands-on experience in water treatment plants.

  • The majority of the work will be in the San Francisco Bay area. Candidate should be located within driving distance, or willing to stay near the project sites as needed.

  • The preferred candidate will have experience in both water treatment and wastewater treatment plants.

  • Commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

The successful candidate will also be part of the national Operations and Maintenance team, and participation on projects across the country is highly likely

The expected compensation range for this position is $86,240 - $151,200 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
