Summary
  • This position schedules outpatient and inpatient procedures to be completed in the Operating Room and areas requiring Anesthesia assistance. This process includes selecting proper procedure cards, scheduling pre-op testing, and coordinating with other departments. This position has no direct physical contact with patients. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • This position works under the supervision of the Director or designee and is employed by Mosaic Health System.
Duties
  • Receives calls and/or in-person requests from providers, clinics, or other clinical personnel to schedule procedures and testing. Receives calls from patients and/or their representatives regarding PAT appointments and times. Provides exceptional customer service skills (oral, written, and visual communications).
  • Schedules and arranges procedures and tests for all surgical patients; arranging various resources such as providers, rooms, equipment, etc.
  • Coordinates the proper clinical sequencing of perioperative testing. Creates reservations for scheduled inpatient, ambulatory surgery, and other medical procedures assuring PAT compliance by scheduling pre-admission testing.
  • Verifies correct medical record number and records patient information (social security number, date of birth, etc) to maintain accurate patient identification.
  • Assists providers, clinics, or other clinical personnel in finding available time, and/or shuffling previously scheduled procedures, to ensure procedures are completed within the timeframe provided by the physician to meet urgency classification requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of Medical Terminology preferred or recommend within the first year of employment.
  • One year experience in Admissions or ancillary service department preferred. Clinical experience highly valued.
