YOUR MISSION (The Job Description):The Order Taker will play an important role for performing all sales transactions in assigned food outlets, which could be either front or back of the house. The Order Taker will be responsible for the pick-up, count down, and return of the cash bank from miscellaneous count.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties):
- Answer the telephone within 3 rings
- Greet the guest with appropriate greeting using the guest's name and giving your name "Good Morning Mr. Brown, this is Tony from Room Service. How may I help you?"
- Politely ask the guest about preferences
- Use upselling techniques by suggesting soups, starters, drinks, or desserts
- Whenever appropriate, mention the approximate time for delivery
- Repeat the order back to the guest
- Thank the guest for ordering through in room dining and big farewell "Thank you for calling room service, have a nice day."
- Clearly write out the order in the log sheet, time of ordering, room number, Etc.
- Great team player with the ability to create excellent working relationships across the group
- Ability to break down barriers and resolve potential conflicts swiftly and effortlessly
- Creativity and innovation are essential!
- Ability to think outside the box and approach all issues with a completely fresh approach
- Ability to anticipate needs and over deliver wherever possible

- Basic mathematical skills
- Additional skills and abilities are typically acquired through one month of on the job training or through related experience
- Use a cash register
- Read, see, and write so as to read ticket totals, total credit vouchers, log checks, etc.
- Bend to restock needed materials, retrieve dropped items, etc.
- Work in crowds and sound, varying levels depending on customer volume
- Handle money and balance bank at end of shift
- Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management
- Handle high volume calls
