JOB SUMMARY

Is a health professional working as part of the team delivering surgical care, who functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Functions as the first and second assist under the direction, supervision and primary observation of a surgeon.

Prepares the operating room for surgical cases, including equipment and instrumentation Possesses knowledge and skills in sterile and aseptic techniques.

Anticipates the needs of the surgeon in order to make the procedure run as smooth and efficient as possible.

EDUCATION

Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program or equivalent experience.

LICENSURE

EXPERIENCE

Previous hospital experience is preferred in the surgical setting.

Clinical rotation is acceptable.

Surgical Technologist Certification preferred but not required.
