The Outpatient Clinician & FIRST Episode Team Lead is responsible for working with the FIRST Episode program by coordinating the team, assessing possible candidates for the program, chairing weekly team meetings, networking with NEOMED consultants, attending meetings with OMHAS, and engaging in outreach across the Allwell service area. The clinician provides direct clinical services to FIRST Episode and other Allwell clients and families, refers and links clients to other Allwell services, and provides mental health crisis intervention as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assess possible candidates for the FIRST Episode program.
• Coordinate the FIRST Episode team and conduct weekly team meetings.
• Networking with NEOMED consultants and attend meetings with OMHAS for FIRST Episode.
• Engage in outreach across the Allwell service area.
• Provides mental health assessments, individual, marital and family counseling/psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
• Referral and linkage to other needed Allwell services as well as referral to other community resources.
• Building relationships with primary care staff.
• Provides clear, concise and prompt feedback to the primary care practitioner.
• Provides behavioral health education as appropriate to the primary care staff.
• Ensures services are delivered professionally and with concern for the client’s well-being.
• Maintains and submits required documentation within the time frame specified by policy
• Attends/participates in Allwell clinical and administrative staff meetings.

Abilities/Skills:

• Able to exercise good analysis and judgment in discriminating among many alternatives
• Flexibility, adaptability and tolerant of interruptions
• Knowledge and understanding of medical conditions and interrelationship with mental health condition

Education/Experience/Licensure:

• Master’s degree in Social Work or Master’s in Education in Counseling from an accredited program required
• Must possess and maintain valid Ohio license as a LSW, LISW, LPC or LPCC
• Experience preferred

FIRST Episode is a coordinated specialty care program for individuals who have had a first episode of psychotic illness. With treatment, people with psychotic illness can and do get better. Early treatment is very important: Research suggests that the sooner treatment of a psychotic illness begins, the better the chances of a faster and more complete recovery. FIRST episode is a personalized treatment program that include coordination of Individual Resiliency Training, Psychiatric Care, Supported Employment/Education, Family Education and Support, Case Management services.
