Packaging Engineers are responsible for managing all aspects of design, development, testing and validation of packages and packaging systems for Mammotome's medical device products. This position will apply engineering principles to execute the proper design, qualification and implementation of Primary and Secondary Packaging components using the associated systems, equipment and processes. Knowledge of sterile barrier primary and secondary packaging systems and material science is essential to the position.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Acts as team member on larger New Product Development and commercial change projects by owning package development as a core function. Responsible for designing all aspects of the packaging system, budget activities related to packaging, contributing to supplier and sourcing activities and contributing to manufacturing related activities including processes and IQ, OQ, PQ activities.
Evaluates new package concepts or technologies
Participates in process improvement or task teams
Works cross-functionally to deliver packaging components in a timely manner for Engineering projects
Support for Verification and Validation testing activities by working closely with V&V team along with outside testing facilities.
Writing of test protocols, perform technical evaluations and testing to support reports used to justify the use of selected materials and packaging components.
Familiarity with Material Testing standards, requirements and equipment is essential.
Support line trials and packaging validation activities prior to introduction of any new or change in components/processes
Collaborates with cross-functional teams (i.e. Research, QA/QC, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Regulatory, etc.) in pre-commercial and commercial activities.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Packaging (or related field equivalent) and 3 – 5 years' packaging experience in Medical Device Industry or equivalent regulated industry
Sterile Barrier Packaging Systems
Packaging related standards (ISO 11607, ASTM & ISTA)
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Packaging related labeling systems (Labelview, Bartender, etc)
Project Management / Project Planning Experience
Packaging related design software (Artios CAD, CAPE Pack, TOPS, etc); Other (MS Project, Solidworks, EPDM, SAP)
