Summary:
Responsible for the operation and routine maintenance of packaging machines to ensure continuous and efficient operation of the packaging department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs tasks as instructed and works shifts as assigned by supervision.
• Operates, trouble shoots and performs routine maintenance on all packaging machines, scales, tape machines and date code machines.
• Responsible for identifying and loading correct film for each product based on production schedule
• Performs all tasks required to ensure cleaning standards are met.
• Communicates with other crews and departments to ensure efficient operation of the production process. Reports all quality and maintenance issues to affected departments.
• Responsible for packaging department break schedule
• Responsible for performing monitoring procedures to avoid potential allergen cross contamination in packaging room.
• Assists other employees as needed to ensure efficient operation of the production process.
• Trains employees in operation of packaging machines and other production processes, as needed
• Maintains all required written documentation.
• Responsible for attending and participating in assigned training sessions related to GMPs, SOPs, HACCP and SQF; applying and demonstrating obtained knowledge and following all procedures and policies related to food safety.
• Responsible for keeping work area safe and clean.
• Adheres to all safety guidelines for job performed
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervision
• Responsible for meeting all quality, sanitation and production standards

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Occasionally required to lift and pull up to 75 pounds
• Occasionally required to carry items up to 50 pounds
• Required to work while standing for periods up to 2 hours
• Regularly required to bend, reach, pull, stoop, kneel, climb and reach
• Perform medium to medium duty work tasks

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to operate packaging machine and other food processing equipment.
• Ability to obtain certification and operate a forklift
• Ability to use Excel, Word and Outlook proficiently
• Ability to communicate, write legibly, and speak in English
• Ability to perform each essential function satisfactory.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

• Safety eyewear and hearing protection are required
• Protective clothing, hair net and gloves are required.
• All PPE related to GMPs is required
• Respirator and other PPE may be required based on tasks being performed.
