Job description
Assist student(s) as they get off the bus in the morning
Assist students in following the classroom schedule
Attend general education classes with students at FHS and Millstream
Escort students to and from classrooms, throughout the school building as needed, and on field trips
Support the development of a safe and calming environment in which the student can learn and manage behaviors
Have an understanding of behaviors associated with the autism spectrum and/or students with multiple disabilities and how to respond with care
Effectively communicate and cooperate with teachers, ancillary staff, and administration
Attend and participate in meetings and professional development as required
Provide support according to the student's IEP
Implement behavior intervention plans, collect data per the plan and teacher request, and communicate data to the appropriate stakeholders
Carry out duties assigned by the classroom teacher, building principal and/or special education coordinator
The position may include the following:
Provide 1:1 support for students who need assistance with self-care needs
Following training, the ability to help the student utilize communication device(s)
