Brief Description The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (RTA) located in Cleveland, Ohio, is searching for drivers to provide safe, efficient, and quality transportation service to customers. Detailed Description Picks up and transports senior citizens including/or ADA customers and delivers them safely and timely to their destinations; reviews basic operating conditions of assigned coach, reviews assigned trip destination(s),routing schedule(s) and other applicable criteria to ensure efficient preparations, in order to provide the highest level of customer service to the Authority’s applicable customers; receives radio instruction for additional customer pick-ups; refuels coaches and updates all applicable records for assigned coach. This position will promote a safe and secure atmosphere, follow all safety and security rules and perform other related duties as assigned. Works overtime as necessitated by operational needs. Job Requirements Minimum Requirements: Applicant must have a high school diploma or its GED equivalent. Applicant must have three (3) years of driving experience and at least two (2) years of experience in a position where customer service skills were essential, including providing information on product knowledge, person to person assistance, etc. and/or services to the general public. Applicants must be able to read and write and must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Applicants must have strong verbal communication skills and must be able to demonstrate those skills. Applicants must have knowledge of the Greater Cleveland area, including major streets, landmarks, hospitals, etc. Applicants must be able to read and interpret street maps. Applicants must also have a GOOD DRIVING RECORD, with no more than two (2) points, in the past three(3) years. A valid state of Ohio permanent CDL or temporary CDL Class A or B license, with Passenger and Air brake endorsements. Applicants who successfully pass the selection process who do not have a permanent or temporary CDL may be offered a position, contingent on obtaining the temporary permit before the start date. Mental Demands: Must be able to provide information on points of interest, have working knowledge of fare collection, routes, stops and hours of operation, and have ability to use a PA system.
Additional Information: The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day or night, any day and night of the week. The position is a bargaining unit position. The position is also safety sensitive and subject to random drug testing.
Successful candidates will be expected to pass a background check and post-offer physical that is job related and consistent with business necessity.
Examination Information: Candidates selected to participate in the hiring process will receive directions via e-mail to take an online assessment. Candidates must pass the assessment and an interview in order to move forward in the pre-employment process. Candidates must attain a minimum of 60% on the interview.

Training Wage: $16.00
Wage Rate after training: $19.58 hourly, plus wage rate increases up to $29.36 after five years of full-time equivalent services.
