POSITION TITLE: Parent/Youth Promotora
DEPARTMENT: School Based Services
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director STRONG MINDS STRONG HEARTS Program
FLSA STATUS: 1.0 FTE, Non-Exempt, Union Position
COMPENSATION: $22.79/Hour or $23.41/hour with bilingual differential
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Parent Promotora will be providing mental health support to the Latinx community within Alameda County school sites and STRONG MINDS STRONG HEARTS Program. The Parent Promotora will be instrumental in providing support to parents and clients of different School Districts within Alameda County, focusing on Social Emotional learning skills within these various school districts. The Parent Promotora will work closely with the Staff Therapists in the STRONG MINDS STRONG HEARTS programs. They will provide support to the 6 schools and communities within Alameda County which can include daily operations such as planning and facilitating meetings case management with Families and parent advocacy. This individual will support family and clients of the STRONG MINDS STRONG HEARTS program, including attending various meetings, following up with emails and calls, advocacy support, and other duties as assigned.

- Network with schools, districts and other community partners/ staff to support objectives of Parent Promotora’s and STRONG MINDS STRONG HEARTS Program.
- Collaborates on special projects related to program and agency objectives as appropriate.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, monthly training sessions and other meetings as required. Provide appropriate documentation of services provided to clients and families. Supporting with Salesforce Data entry and help with reporting.
Program Administrative Support: Build rapport with youth, caregivers, and families. Serve as a role model and coach to inspire, engage and advocate for youth and their families. Provide psychoeducation regarding mental health, child development, and parenting skills. Provide culturally responsive support, including aiding individuals to understand and move through unfamiliar/complicated systems. Support youth/parents in completing applications for entitlement programs – e.g., CalFRESH, Medi-Cal – and navigating to resources to help meet families’ basic needs as well as “warm hand-offs“ to community based providers. Utilize motivational interviewing and other evidence based interventions to assist parents and families. Collaborate with Staff Therapists and other providers serving the youth/families to ensure that all needs are being met and that providers and other involved adults are on the same page regarding the youth/family needs.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Lived Experience with mental health challenges, homelessness, and/or substance use recovery preferred.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating excellent critical thinking skills and professional judgement.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements of the position and be timely in meeting all requirements for work performance. Proficiency using Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English required.
- Parent/family advocacy with “lived experience.”
- Ability to work in an independent environment.
- Ability to learn web-based platforms (e.g., Salesforce) with appropriate training provided.
- Valid CA Driver’s license
- Auto insurance: Personal vehicle may be used for business related purposes; it is recommended you inform your auto insurance carrier.
- Ability to regularly drive and/or travel throughout selected geographical areas as needed to perform the above duties.
- Proof of COVID Vaccination required
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ability to occasionally or frequently stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms above shoulders
