General Purpose:
Supports attorneys, specialists, paralegals & other team members in the IP group with docketing functions, data management, updating existing records, tracking & following up on deadlines, reporting & client record onboarding.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Partner with Docketing Program Manager to manage and docket a large patent portfolio utilizing internal and external resources.
- Serve as a patent docketing subject matter expert for patent practitioners, IP Specialists, Paralegals and IP Operations teams
- Champion process improvement initiatives to improve docketing accuracy and efficiency
- Review & process a large volume of e-mail, mailings, correspondence and pleadings related to patent and trademark matters from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, clients, foreign counsel and other foreign patent offices.
- Maintenance of the docket for patent attorney cases using a web-based docketing system.
- Scan and save hard/soft copy documents, using the firm naming convention, to the correct client/matter folder and forward them to the correct legal team.
- Report out document(s) received, and deadline(s) docketed to the responsible parties (attorney/paralegal/IPS/secretary) according to docketing department standards.
- Prepare and distribute monthly/weekly/final deadline docket reports which reflect upcoming due dates and reminders to each attorney/client team for important prosecution deadlines. Continuously look for ways to further automate the reporting process using the IP Management platform and other software tools.
- Keep a thorough record of all docketed items to resolve any questions that may arise regarding specific deadlines and/or methods used.
- Maintain docketing standards manual
- Assist with other docketing related duties, preparing team documentation, reporting and special projects, as necessary.
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience and Certification):
- 3 - 7 years of IP docketing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Foundation IP (FIP) is desirable.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Prior knowledge of US and foreign patent/trademark prosecution process and understanding of relevant documents strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Requires the ability & soft skills to work effectively with personnel at all levels of seniority within the firm.
- Aptitude for understanding and quickly learning a variety of databases and software.

A discretionary bonus may be available based upon performance. CO salary range is $28.24-$47.07. A discretionary bonus may be available based upon performance.
