PATIENT CARE COUNSELOR

Job Summary: Patient Care Counselors are responsible for educating patients on cataract surgery options and LASIK procedures. They act as a liaison between clinic staff and the patient by signing consents, collecting surgical fees, and answering any questions patients may have. Additionally, Patient Care Counselors follow-up with the patients after their surgery has been performed to discuss patient satisfaction and visual outcomes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Educate patient on Cataract and LASIK surgery options.
- Schedule surgery dates and additional appointments.
- Reviewing and collecting surgery and insurance fees up front. (Must be comfortable collecting large amounts of money).
- Assist and provide patients with excellent customer service and any necessary information regarding treatment
- Travel between all Center for Sight locations is required
Competencies:
- Strong Customer Service focus. This dynamic individual must be a high energy team player who loves interacting with people
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment is a must
- Ability to multi-task, and capable of working independently as well as with others
- Ability to perform additional functions as necessary
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position located in Sarasota, University Park and/or Venice, FL (travel to Englewood and North Port, FL as needed).
- Days and hours are Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Prior experience in a customer service role.
- Must be able to work under pressure and respond to patient requests in a positive manner.
