Day Shift, Full Time, 40 hours, 7:00am-3:30pm


How You Care for Our Patients


The Patient Insurance Advocate position acts as a billing liaison working closely with patients, insurance companies, and internal leadership and clinical teams. We are seeking an experienced, organized, independently motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment producing accurate and effective results. Must have proper phone etiquette and customer service skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are necessary.


  • Receives and records all referrals into database
  • Insurance eligibility checks- verify all insurance benefits for new and existing patients
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure billing accuracy
  • Assist Intake team with insurance inquiries as needed
  • Request initial authorizations from insurance companies and monitor/request renewal authorizations as needed
  • Work with uninsured patients to obtain coverage
  • Extensive work with BSAS patient enrollments and due diligence forms
  • Collect patient payments and reconcile accordingly in database
  • Monitor patient payments and create fee agreements
  • Follow up on pending lab results
  • Manage incoming mail and faxes
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

You Bring Meaningful Experience


Associates degree or equivalent required. Behavioral Health and/or outpatient behavioral billing experience preferred.

3-5 years of Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial/Managed Care billing or intake experience.

Experience in Microsoft Office and other computer software products Experience with billing and HIPAA compliance guidelines.

Bilingual preferred.

Prior experience working within an inpatient behavioral health setting or outpatient behavioral setting preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office with sufficient typing and computer skills is required. Knowledge and experience with the use of an EHR (Electronic Health Record) system preferred.
