Job Summary:
The Payroll Accountant is an integral component of the management and internal control process of Shepherd University’s biweekly payroll and related benefits process. The Payroll Accountant performs professional accounting functions to produce an accurate biweekly payroll. This work is accomplished through the application of professional accounting principles in examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting records and financial information, the preparation of fiscal reports according to state and professional accounting standards, and advice to management on various courses of action related to payroll management. The Payroll Accountant also provides direct support, service, and professional advice to the University’s Staff and Faculty regarding payroll and other related deductions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in Business/Accounting with 3 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting with 3 years of related experience.

Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
