OVERVIEW:
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for payroll-related accounting and analysis in an accurate, consistent and timely (ACT) manner. The Payroll Accountant must be able to communicate effectively with team members in the Payroll department, Human Resources department, Accounting department, and Store Operations.
KEY TASKS:
- Create and post payroll journal entries.
- Create reconciliations and journal entries for benefits (health insurance, life insurance, worker's compensation, etc.)
- Maintain reconciliations for payroll-related balance sheet accounts (advances, draws, payroll accruals, insurance reserves, commission/spiff/sales goals payables, stock options, 401K payable, etc.)
- Compile weekly commission, spiff and monthly sales goal bonus submissions.
- Manage payments of all benefit vendors.
- Create journal entries to record stock option exercises (as applicable).
- Compile and distribute payroll and benefit files for our non-core MarineMax companies.
- Assist with monthly bonus accruals and submissions.
- Support year-end tax reconciliations and reporting requirements.
- Review user files and ensure only active team members are included.
- Create purchase orders to record weekly drafts of medical claims, FSA claims and 401K contributions.
- Maintain all backup and approvals for audit purposes.
- Manage relationships with vendors and carriers with respect to payroll and benefits.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to drive change and improve processes & procedures.
- Ensure payroll information is kept confidential at all times.
- Financial analysis to improve MarineMax profitability.
- Internal and external customer service.
