Summary
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this full-time, exempt salaried role is responsible for the following duties.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
1. Oversee and perform the administrative functions related to payroll and reimbursements to employees including processing bi-weekly payroll and performance bonuses, and all associated reports, providing timely responses to L&N Team Members questions regarding the payroll system (core and time management), and reconciling of bi-weekly payroll for general ledger postings and 401K contributions.
2. Closely follow all standard operating procedures and company policies to ensure payroll compliance and minimize risk.
3. Confirm quarter end tax reports for filing accuracy.
4. Oversee and perform the administrative functions of the 401k including ensuring participants are enrolled when eligible, ineligible employees are not participating, deferrals and the related employer match are computed correctly and made timely.
5. Evaluate 401k and payroll processes and procedures and suggest changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness, supporting continuous process improvement efforts.
6. Coordinate audits of the 401k plan, ensuring the timely preparation of requested items and form 5500 filing. Establish and maintain a professional relationship with auditors and Third Party Administrator.
7. Responsible for communicating 401(k) education and training details.
8. Escalate payroll issues in a timely manner.
9. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Certifications
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Accounting or Finance Degree strongly preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus but not required.
- At least 5 – 10 years related or similar experience required.
- Thorough understanding and proven hands-on experience with accurately processing 401(k) administrative tasks.
- Experience with payroll processing systems, UKG or Kronos preferred.
- Demonstrated payroll experience with a high level of payroll processing proficiency, timeliness and accuracy in a confidential manner.
- Proven experience meeting deadlines, prioritizing tasks and working in a fast- paced environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem solving skills and the ability to work independently when needed.
- Exemplary computer skills that include Microsoft Office Suite of products.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Thrives in a team environment and works collaboratively with others as needed.
